Greetings,

 

Just a quick note to let you know we made it safely to Kabul and quickly settled in at the guest house.  Even though this is Friday in Afghanistan (the equivalent of our Sunday) and our hosts and their staff have the day off, we were greeted warmly by many dear friends who came in just to welcome us and make us feel at home.  Such is the way of Afghan hospitality.

 

After lunch we discussed our schedule for the week and tackled a couple small projects to help us stay awake till a relatively normal bed time.  The gals brought along some writing journals, pens, candy, hand lotions, and other trinkets that they prepared as gifts for the Afghan ladies on the staff, teachers, and community health workers at Barek Aub.  We men decided to help in the best way we knew how -- we stayed out of the way by heading up to the roof and shooting the breeze.  ;)

 

We're hitting the sack pretty soon... we are SO blessed and thankful to be here!
