Psalm 103:20-21 Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure.

BLESS THE LORD (4)

David now calls on God's angels to praise His name. Is it a bit presumptuous for a sinful, mortal human to call upon God's almighty angels with an exhortation? It is certainly bold, but not out of place. Although the angels are not human and therefore not in need of forgiveness or salvation, they are still created beings and therefore subject to God. They too, have reason to bless His name and follow His commands.

Isaiah was another biblical character who actually witnessed angels praising God. He recorded, "Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: 'Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!'" (Isaiah 6:2-3).

What power God must have, that even the angels; who are holy themselves, praise Him for His holiness! We could learn a lesson from that humble attitude for our lives. If the angels can "heed the voice of God's word" and "do His pleasure," we certainly should too. We, in fact, have an even greater reason. We did need to be rescued from sin. The Savior came for us. We deserved absolutely nothing; yet we are God's children. Bless His holy name!
