Mark 6:51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled.
DO NOT LIMIT GOD TO HUMAN STANDARDS
One of the reasons we are surprised by God is because when He comes up with a solution to problems we often say, "I would have never thought of that." We consider how we would react in a situation and incorrectly assume that God would do the same thing. Or we may get so used to our own limited power and thinking, that we forget that God does not have limitations. Do not drag the Lord down to your level!
Just consider the background to our text. Approximately twelve hours before the disciples found themselves floundering in the middle of the Sea of Galilee they had witnessed one of the more famous of Jesus' miracles. He had taken five loaves of bread and two fish and fed 5000 people producing some twelve baskets of leftovers. By this time they had also witnessed many miracles of healing as well. So, when they witnessed His stilling of the storm, you would have thought that at least "the miracle of the loaves" would have been fresh in their minds.
To be a witness to Jesus controlling the weather certainly would have been a sight to behold, but these disciples would not have been astonished if they had remembered that Jesus has no limits.
We also do well to remember that God has solutions to problems that we could never dream up, much less enact. The same Jesus who calmed the storm has "outside the box" solutions for your problems, both small and great.
