A Mother's  Prayer to God . . .
A letter to Nina during a time of great anxiety over her deteriorating health. This beautiful and touching prayer expresses the passion and hope that every mother has toward her children, especially one that has had a chronic illness all of her life.

The Prayer

TO NINA FROM HER MOTHER
September 27, 1996

Dear God,

Today is my Nina’s birthday.  Only You know how much she has suffered throughout her life, only You can give her the miracle of life.  Give her a life free of worry, free of illness, make her whole.  She was made in your image Dear Lord, and as Your daughter protect her, watch over her, love her, fill her soul with faith, the faith that conquers all adversity, the faith that moves mountains, the faith that will give her the will and the strength to believe in miracles, for she herself is a miracle.

Dear God, you made my Nina pretty, intelligent, sensitive, responsible, hardworking, loving, loyal, grateful for all Your gifts.  Give her now and for the rest of her stay here health, joy, loving friends and the knowledge that You are with her at all times protecting her. Let her know that no harm shall come to her ever, for You are with her in the day time in the night time; Give her the faith to know that wherever she is,Your loving arms are always about her, to cradle her, to lift her out of harm’s way, and to carry her burdens when they become too heavy for her to carry on her own.

Our journey through this life can be trying, the road to perfection is so hard, the valleys, the mountains, are so vast, the dangers so real, and we travel alone. You have given Nina, because of Your great love for her, many difficult and painful lessons on this road to perfection.  She has walked barefoot through burning coals, she has experienced desperation, pain, suffering well beyond her years. Please dear God, on this day of her birthday, give her a life free of physical pain and fill her soul with the magic of Your spirit , let her know that she has served you well and as Your daughter and servant she will fear no evil for You are with her now and forever.

Dear God this is the prayer of a mother who loves her daughter with all her heart and on her knees asks this of You in the name of your own son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
