CALLING ALL TRAIN BUFFS -- The birthplace of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad is offering a hands on experience with history. Work sessions and evening history programs will be held at the Ridgway Railroad Museum on June 4-8. Restoration work will be performed on the D&RG caboose 0575, work car 04914, and drop bottom gondola 702. The museum will be firing up RGS Motor (Goose) #1 at least once during these sessions. This was the prototype for the RGS Galloping Geese. Train enthusiasts are invited to stay at the historic Spangler House B&B (built in 1882), ten miles south of Ridgway in historic Ouray, Colorado. Ouray is a 131 year-old, historically preserved, mining town in the heart of the San Juan Mountains. Guests of the Spangler House are always served a full and hearty breakfast in its spacious dining room. After a long day of activities guests are welcome to soak in the large outdoor hot tub or visit Ouray’s natural hot springs pool for half price. TWO SISTERS INN NOT MONKEYING AROUND THIS SEASON!!! Two Sisters Inn a bed and breakfast in Manitou Springs, CO is celebrating the birth of the baby gorilla born January 2007 at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. Come stay at the B&B and tour America’s only Mountain Zoo in the United States. Feed the giraffes and laugh with the meerkats. Go nose-to-nose with many of the 750 animals at the Zoo. The special treat will be seeing the newest addition to the Western Lowland Gorilla troup. From the Zoo, one can see breathtaking views of the Pikes Peak Region and have free access to the Russell Tutt Scenic Highway leading to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. The package includes two nights at the Inn, two breakfasts fit for the king of the jungle, two admission tickets to the Zoo (and the Shrine of the Sun) and special food to feed the giraffes.
