Matthew 28:5b-7 "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."
SATANIC MISDIRECTION -- EASTER IS ALL ABOUT A FERTILITY GODDESS?
I'm not an old man. Two weeks ago I celebrated my 44th Easter. I don't remember all of them, but the older I become the more I cherish them.
I also notice Satan's yearly attempts to silence and sabotage our Easter joy. There is nothing new under the sun, neither are these attempts a new thing. Satan wants us to question and doubt our hope in Christ.
Have you ever heard someone suggest that "Easter" finds its basis in the rites of a fertility goddess named Eoestre? There are some who go so far as to suggest that our Easter celebration somehow joins us in this heathen fertility goddess' worship.
Think back to your Easter celebration. Was there any mention of fertility goddesses? No. It doesn't matter whether or not there is or was such a false goddess or whether or not the day of her false worship was taken up by early Christians as an opportunity to profess the truth to a heathen world.
Easter, the religious holiday that we Christians celebrate, isn't about eggs or candy and it's surely not about a fertility goddess. The Easter angel reminds us what it's all about: Christ is Risen, as He said.
We celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Our hopes now and forever center on the living Jesus, who was delivered up because of our sins and raised again because of our justification (cf. Romans 4:25). Eternal life is ours in Christ.
So ... get lost, Satan.
Christ is risen!
Hallelujah!
