Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

THE SAVIOR OF THE NATIONS ... CAME AND WAS BORN TO BE A BLESSING TO ALL NATIONS

Abraham is thought by many to be the father of the Jewish nation. God promised Abraham that He would make of him a great nation -- at a time when He was old and without an heir. God promised Abram that it would be through Sarah, his equally ancient wife, that the promise would be fulfilled. God promised Abraham that his descendants would finally dwell in a new a Promised Land. Is there any wonder that some of the Jews boasted to be Abram's descendants?

Now please notice that God promised that through Abraham all the families of the earth would be blessed. Actually, Abraham himself wouldn't bring blessing to all men, but His descendant would. The Christ is the one through whom this blessing would come. After all, the Christ didn't come merely to be the personal Savior of the Jewish nation, but one who would rescue human beings from every nation on the face of the earth.

A few years back the children of our Vacation Bible School sang this little song:

Father Abraham had many sons. Many sons had father Abraham.
I am one of them and so are you so let's all praise the Lord!

All those who trust in God's promise to save through the seed of Abraham, the Lord Jesus Christ, are part of the family of God and are blessed with believing Abraham. I am one of them and so are you, so let's all praise the Lord. For the Scripture declares:

"And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, 'In you all the nations shall be blessed.' So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham" (Galatians 3:8-9 NKJV).
