Good day. Here is the Los Manatees news for the month of May, 2004.
Work continues on the long-awaited studio album. Long into the night we toil, only to return the next day for even more toiling. We have five songs in varying stages of completion. There is talk of a week-long reggae recording session sometime this summer featuring Earl "Chinna" Smith on guitar. We have well over an album's worth of "roots" material...
Web-master Michael Jones is investigating the possibility of our own Los Manatees internet radio station. Radio Free Manatees! All Manatees. All the time. More details to come...
This Saturday (May 8), we debut at the legendary Wagon Wheel in Quakertown, PA ! Showtime is 10:00pm. Come early to ensure a good seat.
Also new this month is our first Thursday (May 13) at The Lord Salford Pub in Harleysville, PA. If things go well this could turn into a regular monthly gig...
On Sunday, May 23, we will be playing at Manatees-drummer Ritchie DeCarlo's wedding party! Ritchie and his blushing bride, Debbie, recently tied the knot in Las Vegas, Nevada, but wanted to throw a bash here in Philly for their families and many musician friends. It promises to be quite an all-star jam.
We would like to welcome Karl Frick's new Wurlitzer electric piano to the band. It is a wonderful addition.
Upcoming shows include our return to The Fitzwater Station (Sunday, June 6) in Phoenixville, PA., and an all-ages (invitation only)show at The Elmwood Park Zoo (Thursday, June 3) in Norristown, PA. We'll be playing near the duck pond from 6:30 to 10:30pm. It is a fundraiser to benefit the zoo's new monkeys and flamingoes. There will be a live auction as well.
