Suffolk Theatre Company Red Rose Chain to perform at the Tower of London this summer
Red Rose Chain is delighted to announce its most exciting venture yet - Fallen in Love, written and directed by Joanna Carrick. Love, betrayal, jealousy and treason; the secret heart of Anne Boleyn is revealed in this bold and authentic new production.
Following its stunning debut in 2011 supported by the National Lottery through Heritage Lottery Fund, the play is returning to the stage in a brand new production. Whether you’re already a fan, or new to Fallen in Love, this is a production not to be missed!
The play will be performed at the breath-taking Tower of London and echoed in Suffolk at Gippeswyk Hall, the beautiful home of Red Rose Chain in Ipswich.
Jim Malarkey, Head of Visitor and Commercial Services at the Tower of London says: “Historic Royal Palaces are pleased to welcome Red Rose Chain Theatre Company to the Tower of London for their acclaimed production of ‘Fallen in Love.'
"The Tower is, of course, the place where Anne Boleyn spent her final days and her bones still rest at the Tower, buried in the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula. Her love life was in part her downfall, presenting Henry VIII with a convenient and almost certainly contrived reason to persecute his Queen. Could there be a more appropriate setting for this wonderful play? We look forward to working with Red Rose Chain to produce ‘Fallen in Love’ at the Tower of London.”
Theatre goers can enjoy Carrick’s extraordinary new play inside this awesome setting. They can make it a special day out with entry tickets to the Tower or book for exclusive evening access when the crowds have departed, allowing them to experience this unique indoor theatrical event as the sun sets on the site of Anne’s trial, execution and final resting place.
Joanna Carrick says: “It’s such an honour to be invited to perform this play in The Tower of London. The play is intense and emotional, and performing it at such an evocative place is going to make it an unforgettable experience.”
Box Office opens at 9am on Thursday 21 March 2013.
