John 2:2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
THE UNKNOWN GUEST AT CANA'S WEDDING
Why was Jesus invited to this wedding in Cana of Galilee? A look at a map reveals that, as the crow flies, Jesus' home town of Nazareth lay less than 10 miles away. Perhaps there had been some carpentry business connection there with the work Jesus had done with his step-father, Joseph. Or it could have been a family connection of some kind.
We are privy to what was to happen there at the wedding in Cana--that Jesus would miraculously turn water into wine. But those at the wedding did not know that. This was the first miracle that Jesus performed, so it was not because of His great miracles that He was invited!
That unknown couple invited Jesus not even knowing all about who He was! We do know who He is--not just the greatest Miracle Maker of all time, either. He is the One who came to this earth so that He could carry out His Father’s will "that all may be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth."
And since we as believers know who He is, certainly we will invite Him to come with all His blessings and be with us in our homes, our families, our marriages, and all!
