I may have witnessed the most important lesson of the year. I was in Mr. Somers' health class and the objectives were "to better understand depression, be able to recognize when a person may be suicidal and what to do if you see that as a student." Mrs. Wenk was in the class to support students as well. The lesson began with the learning topic and then developed around a video where 7 students told their stories and how they achieved positive mental health after being in a dark place. Mr. Somers and Mrs. Wenk worked very well together and created a safe environment. Students had great questions and comments. As a parent, I was extremely happy to see that lesson occurring.

What a volleyball match last night! The Packers shrugged off 10, yep 10, match points to rally from behind in the fourth game and eventually win that game and the deciding fifth game. I've watched thousands of volleyball games and I've never seen more than 4 points overcome on a game point let alone 10 match points. It was crazy fun!

You can ask your students about Mr. Sherman's morning announcement for some laughs. It was a stellar train wreck. My train of thought was twisted no less than three times. The result was me babbling and second-guessing myself. By the time I delivered it correctly, the school was laughing at me. UGH. The point I wanted to get across was there is a huge soccer game tomorrow, at home versus Newaygo. We kick off at 4:30. We'd love to have you there.
