Tulsa Oklahoma, Sanctuary City for Undocumented Democrats
By the Watchman
It would appear that the Conservative movement in Oklahoma has a problem identifying true Conservatives in the North Eastern part of this great state. Another undocumented Democrat, in the form of Senator Mike Mazzei, has been identified. We are fortunate in one area and that is that he is term limited. So what is he doing with the over fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) still in his campaign war chest, and why is his campaign still accepting donations? Two questions that are just begging for an answer.
We started our investigation by going to www.ok.gov
and looking at Senator Mazzei’s web page. Unlike most Senators, he does a lot of bragging on his page. He actually goes year by year and lists his legislative accomplishments. Of course he doesn’t list his legislative failures. Nor does he indicate that he’s one of the Senators that have been trying to shove some form of Obamacare down our throats since 2010. It’s also a little out of date. The last update was for the legislative year of 2011.
We did find two news releases that were of interest to us on his brag sheet. The first was this
where his tax bill was given full approval by the Senate.
The second one was this, Oklahoma State Senate - News
, where he says more education funding is needed. It is this second one we find disturbing. With the Superintendent of Public Education and the Governor with the help of the House and Senate implementing the Common Core State Standards throughout the state and an undisclosed cost to tax payers, how much more is really needed? You dumb down our kids to fit an ideological philosophy leaving the decision of who goes to college and who goes to trade school up to you and not the parents all for the sake of a few federal dollars and then decide that the education system needs more funding. What kind of idiot are you? We parents aren’t dumb. We are fully aware that the governor stepped in and killed legislation last year that would have begun to bring an end to this madness.
We next did a simple google search to see what information was available on Senator Mazzaei on line. The first item of interest was this from
his previous campaign web site. The first thing we noticed was you couldn’t tell which party the man was a member of. This is a trick used by liberal politicians that don’t want to admit that they are in fact Liberal politicians. Senator if you are a true Republican and a Conservative Republican as you claim, you would at least have the gumption to name your party on your web site.
We next found this article
. There was no new information here. The only thing we can say is it looks like he wrote it for himself.
The next article we found was this
. This will give you an idea of some of his more recent votes. Some of the dates on the votes are incorrect.
We found this article
very interesting regarding State Question 766. It would appear that Senator Ballenger did not agree with giving another tax break to corporations in Oklahoma. After all Property Taxes are what funding our school districts. Frankly we agree. It’s just another way for the Senator to give some of our tax dollars back to those that have supported him through his political career. That would be the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and their supporters. They do get thirty seven cents on the dollar as it is.
The alleged back injury Senator Mazzei suffered in an accident has been called into question by his political opponents here
. We too find it strange that something like a herniated disk would cause the Senator to miss so many session of the Senate. We know of an individual who was forced to take a medical retirement because he was involved in an accident and had two disks in his neck apply pressure on his spinal cord. He never missed a day of work; the powers that be forced him to take a retirement. They did not want to be responsible for what would happen should he suffer another neck injury. This sounds like someone more interested in building his business than in conducting state business.
We also found this article
. This is the business that he was working on building. As a Certified Financial Planner, it surely takes a lot of his time.
The next article we found was a surprise to us. We have never found this on any other politician that we have investigated. This article
gives you his voting record for both the 2012 and 2013 legislative sessions. We are going to be looking for these more often.
We next went to www.votesmart.org
to see what information they had available on the Senator there. As there was no new information on his Biography page, we didn’t spend a lot of time there. We next went to his Ratings and Endorsements page. Here is some of what we found.
2012 Research Institute for Economic Development 84%
2011 Oklahoma National Federation of Independent Business 86%
2010 Research Institute for Economic Development 89%
2009 OkWatchdog Position on Consumer and Patient Advocacy 47%
2008 Oklahoma Center for Consumer and Patient Safety 50%
What these numbers tell you is that the Senator is very pro-business and could really care less about the consumer or the patient. Maybe that’s why he’s been trying to cram Obamacare down our throats for the last three years.
2012 Oklahoma Sierra Club 33%
2010 Oklahoma Sierra Club 50%
The Senator is definitely not an environmentalist.
We next went to www.followthemoney.org
to look at his campaign finances. Right off the bat we noticed that one of his biggest donors was a campaign donation bundler for President Obama. This same man made millions off of us taxpayers when Solyndra went bankrupt, yet Senator Mazzei had no problem accepting a three thousand donation to his campaign from him. That man would be George B. Kaiser of Tulsa, Ok. Senator Mazzei, any true Conservative would have rejected such a donation.
Although there were many individual donations listed, there were many more special interest groups listed. It was clear that we needed to do some further digging and we did.
We next took a look at the Senators voting record on items that mattered to Oklahomans over the last session. Here is what we found.
HB 1359 Regulating Animal Shelters, Excused due to back, Liberal
HB 1740 Scrap Metal Dealers Regulations, Excused due to back, Liberal
SB 854 Union Reform, Voted No, Liberal
HB 1917 Contingency Planning for Loss of Federal Fund, Excused due to back, Liberal
HB 2180 Creation of New State Agency, refused to vote, Liberal
SB 1126 Compete with Canada Film Act, refused to vote , Liberal
HB 2195 Debt Spending Caps, No recorded Action
SB 76 Raise Candidate Filing Fee Bill, Voted Yea, Liberal
HB 1031 Medicaid Expansion Hospital Tax Extension , Voted Yea, Liberal
HB 2301 Budget Bill, Voted Yea, Liberal
It’s a pretty sorry record when you have to get your points by having no recorded action on a bill. Do you realize that this man has voted to increase the state budget every year that Governor Fallin has been in office? That’s over $800,000,000.00 in four years. That’s a lot of money folks.
We next went to www.ok.gov/ethicscommission
to look at what they had on file there for his campaign records. We looked at his 2012 campaign records as that are his last campaign before he would be term limited out. Here is some of what we found.
First he kept his 2008 campaign open until he filed for re-election in June of 2009. He carried over eighty nine thousand seven hundred and twenty five dollars and forty six cents ($89,725.46) into his campaign for office in 2012. That’s a nice head start.
He just couldn’t keep his hands off of individual donations from out of state. He could have kept those at least in state. Here are just a few examples of personal donations from out of state.
Nov. 13, 2011 1413 DeSale St., Vienna, Va. 22180
Mar. 12, 2012 1413 DeSale St., Vienna, Va. 22180
You mean to tell us that your campaign could not afford to do without those two donations. We find that hard to believe. Those were the only two out of state personal donations we found.
We next looked at donations from Corporations, PACs and Unions. We paid particular attention to medical associations and PACs to get an idea as to why they kept trying to force Obamacare down our throats. Here is some of what we found.
Sep. 03, 2009 American Electric Power PAC, Columbus, Oh. 43215 $1,000.00
Now this is not a surprise. American Electric Power owns the power company there in the Tulsa area. Isn’t it nice to know that an out of state company is deciding to put smart meters on everyone’s homes and blaming it on the Corporation Commission.
Jan. 12, 2010 OKC RNA PAC $ 500.00
Jan. 19, 2010 Okla. Optometric PAC $ 400.00
Nov. 11, 2011 American Federation of Teachers Solidarity PAC $ 500.00
It just gets redundant from here. Some of these groups donate more than once. Many of the groups are key members of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce. A majority are medical association PACs looking for a favorable vote on legislation for Obamacare. He came out of the campaign with a fifty thousand dollar ($50,000.00) surplus. It begs to question what his intentions with that surplus are.
It is clear that Senator Mazzei is no friend to the Conservative movement in Oklahoma. He could do us all a favor and resign his seat in the Senate and allow a true Conservative to step up in take his place. Oklahoma will indeed be a better place without him in the Senate. Stop making excuses sir and work through the pain and do the job you get paid to do. If the pain of your back does not allow you to do the job then you must retire from the Senate. It is the only Honorable thing to do, but then we forget; you sir are a liberal and liberals have no honor.
The fault does not only rest with the Senator. There is a deep rooted problem within the Oklahoma State GOP and indeed with the entire Northeastern part of Oklahoma’s GOP establishment. It would appear that we have an undocumented Democrat running the Oklahoma State GOP. How in the world did that ever happen. It’s even worse in the Northeastern part of the state. No matter what they do, they seem incapable of distinguishing a liberal from a Conservative and they almost always seem to choose the liberal candidate to run for office.
Defund the Oklahoma State GOP. Fund the candidate of your choice now.
Dealing With The Oklahoma Tax Commission
Wasted Time, Wasted Money and They Still Don’t Know What They Are Doing
By Ms PM
Back in June I did a story about wasted taxpayer money when I applied for a sales tax permit and the hoops of compliance in order to send the state the sales tax I had collected. In the original story the last paragraph stated, “this is where it stops…for now.” I haven’t figured out if I am psychic or if it is something as simple as knowing better than to believe government can rarely run anything in an efficient manner.
In a letter from the Oklahoma Tax Commission dated November 1, 2013 I was informed that OTC “intends to deny the renewal of the probationary sales tax account as provided in 68 Oklahoma Statues Section 1364.” Here we go again!
In the letter it stated; An OTC representative visited your business and determined you do not qualify as a vendor for one of the following reasons:
1-Business is not classified as a group one or a group three vendor per 68 OS Sec. 1363.
2-Business activities are solely those of a consumer/user.
3-All sales tax reports filed for your business indicate Zero Gross Sales and Zero Tax Due.
In the original story a worker had visited my business. She left her card on my door because I wasn’t there and because she had failed to make a call prior to the visit resulting in a wasted trip. My first thought after receiving the November 1st letter was how OTC can determine the denial from a card left on my door. Maybe, I thought, they are the ones who were psychic. I thought it odd as well to give me a multiple choice reason as to why I was being denied rather than the actual reason.
I looked up the statute and the information left me with more confusion. Reading Group One of the statute I determined that I did not fall under that category. Reading Group Three was the same conclusion. I did fall under Group Two of the statute but there was no mention of that group in the denial letter. I didn’t understand the second possible reason, “business activities are solely those of a consumer/user.” Their third reason didn’t fit because I had been sending in my collected sales tax each month on time.
I still had the business card that was left on my door so I made a call, left my number in her pager for a return call.
The interesting part is that the November 1st letter arrived on November 5th in the 5 P.M. mail too late to follow up that day. In their letter it stated that I could request a hearing and appear in OKC to show cause why the permit should be renewed, but…it had to be in writing and mailed in. I would be notified by certified mail of the date, time and location of the hearing. My permit would be revoked on November 15th. I had already pre-paid a vendor show for December 7th and my psychic intuition told me this wasn’t going to happen in time to make the show. That old saying, granny is slow but she’s old, gives a new meaning to dealing with government considering their attitude of screw you, I have a job mentality.
Not understanding which reason I was denied, it seemed logical to know this information before I requested a hearing. There was a “for assistance” phone number so I took the plunge.
The person I spoke with gave me an email to contact if I didn’t hear anything from the pager lady within a few days. I asked for a definition of their number two reason and was told she couldn’t answer my question; her job was to answer the phone and direct people to the proper person to speak with. Being a pesky taxpayer I wanted to talk to someone and reminded her of her words, “her job is to direct me to someone.” I was put on hold and within a short time another woman talked to me.
Here is the other part of the bureaucracy. Way back when I moved to Oklahoma I got a sales tax permit which I had for about eight years, I became very sick for a few years, called in and followed the rules to cancel that permit because I couldn’t work. Evidentially, OTC’s pager lady was looking at my old sales tax number and put in for the denial even though the November 1st letter had my new sales tax number. She had determined that no sales tax had been submitted since January and that was the reason for denial. Government can leave out the part of her job description that requires attention to detail regardless of the harm it causes. As long as you have idiots calling the shots and spending your money it will always justify paying people to screw up with no re-course. Of course no sales tax had been submitted under the old permit; I had a new one and had sent monthly sales tax under the proper permit number.
I was told to disregard the letter on November 6th, the computer was updated with this information and I was good to go.
The frightening part is the Oklahoma Tax Commission is a much smaller entity than the IRS and they both have the capability of affecting your life beyond imagination; first at the state level, and if that isn’t enough to cause anxiety, then at the federal level where the big whammy comes from. The stroke of a key along with the incompetence of government and their workers makes for a deadly cocktail of destruction. Buckle up folks! Is anyone thinking government run healthcare?
Islamic Horde Continues to….
Well, Whatever it is That Hordes Usually Do
Oklahoma’s own Islamic Horde, consisting of their salaried leader and what appears to be a secretary/assistant, are still beating the racism and islamaphobia drum after the November 1st seminar at the Capitol. Representative John Bennett put out a press release as the leader of the Counter Terrorism Task Force that asked a lot of questions that CAIR should answer if they wish to remain credible. Then again, judging from the lack of support that CAIR received from local Muslims I wonder why the media is giving CAIR the time of day.
Here is Representative John Bennett’s press release.
Adam Soltani, the executive director of the Oklahoma Council on American-Islamic Relations, continues to misdirect attention from true threats to Oklahoma with claims that the Counterterrorism Caucus of the Oklahoma Legislature is acting out of prejudice and a hatred of Muslims.
Most recently, Soltani reacted to a seminar for law enforcement officials held by the caucus on the floor of the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. The seminar was entitled “Iran, Hezbollah and the Drug Cartels: Counterterrorism Considerations” and featured speakers Frank Gaffney, former Assistant Secretary of Defense, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) William G. “Jerry” Boykin, former Commanding General of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force and former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, and Clare Lopez, former CIA Case Officer.
Without exception, the feedback we have received from the law enforcement officials who attended is that the information presented in the seminar was of excellent quality and surprising. The caucus was proud to present such cutting-edge information to better prepare our law enforcement officers to protect the citizens of Oklahoma.
Soltani first sought to have CLEET rescind the credit hours available to law enforcement officials who attended the seminar. It is important to note that, despite some erroneous information that was printed, CLEET did not sponsor the seminar and did not approve the content of the course. When he was unsuccessful, Soltani launched a series of media attacks in which he accused the speakers of being anti-Muslim. In his most recent attack, Soltani accuses the speakers of spreading “misinformation, fear and hatred.”
Soltani is following a page from the playbook CAIR uses across the country when he attacks the speakers to distract from the truth of what they are saying. If Soltani accuses the speakers of spreading ‘misinformation’ about Iranian terrorists or the drug cartels, let him address the claims with the correct information. I publicly challenge Soltani to identify one thing our speakers said that is factually incorrect.
In 2008, CAIR was an unindicted co-conspirator in the case of U.S. vs. The Holy Land Foundation, et al., the largest terrorist-financing trial in the history of the United States. Further, on August 12, 2006 CAIR helped to coordinate a number of demonstrations in support of Hezbollah and “resistance” groups fighting American forces in Iraq. In addition, on April 20, 2002, Nihad Awad, the national Executive Director of CAIR, spoke to an anti-Israel rally while standing under a Hezbollah flag.
I do not understand CAIR’s opposition to our law enforcement seminar. Does CAIR really intend to support Iranian terrorists and the drug cartels? As a result of CAIR being an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-financing trial in the history of the U.S., the FBI’s Oklahoma City Field Office has said that they refuse to do business with CAIR. Based upon these facts, I think any reasonable person would be justified in questioning CAIR’s motives.
