THE SOLUTION FOR SIN
Even if you meet all of the requirements to be a counselor, before you can set up shop to help people identify and solve their problems you have to have submit your credentials to the authorities to receive the proper authorization.
Jesus Christ has been certified as the Wonderful Counselor by the highest board of accreditation. That Authority is the Triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
This authorization occurred from eternity as God the Son declares in the Psalms saying, "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son, today I have begotten You'" (Psalm 2:7). This was publicly affirmed by God the Father when Jesus began His public ministry at His Baptism. At that time the Father declared for all to hear, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17).
As we have heard, this Wonderful Counselor is one who is just and right in judgment. As our Counselor, Jesus exercised divine judgment to identify man's problem and then undertook a plan of action to take care of the problem.
Man's problem as identified by God in His Word as simply this: SIN. Our Counselor has shown us in His Word that this is a family problem. As it is written, "...through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12). Our parents were sinners, and their parents, and their parents, going all the way back to the first sinner, Adam. And this sin problem is one that, if not remedied, leads to death. As it is written, "The soul who sins shall die" (Ezekiel 18:4). Death is the wages of sin.
Having identified our sin problem, our Counselor determined a plan of action to save sinful mankind. The solution for the sin problem was that sin be paid for by the Counselor Himself.
