Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son . . .
WHEN? IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME!
Of course, the question on everyone's mind is, "When will these things be?" This question has brought forth many answers, and has caused some to dig through the Scriptures in an attempt to pinpoint the year, if not also the day and the hour.
During His earthly ministry, the year, day, and time were not known even by Jesus the Son of Man. Yet He has given us the marks by which we may know that the day of His return is near at hand.
In this devotional we do not have the space to discuss what has come to be called the "Great Tribulation" and all the false notions that have arisen regarding Jesus' words in Matthew 24. Instead, we turn our attention to a passage whose direct reference was and is to the first coming of Jesus. Paul writes in Galatians 4:4, "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law." When God had prepared the world, Jesus came. The year, the day, and the hour were unknown to believers of Old Testament times. Now, in New Testament times, the first part of that passage also holds true. "When the fullness of the time" comes, God will send forth His Son.
The point here being that today, this year, this hour, our minds and hearts are to be turned to the Word through which saving faith is given, that by faith we are not caught unprepared and that we may stand on that great day. That day is near at hand.
