   School Choice is beginning to be attacked again.  Monday, a judge will decide if the suit against the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship should move into the courts.  Opponents to school choice are suing to take the choice away from the 70,000 parents of children using this scholarship.  McKay Scholarships and PLSAs are threatened as well.  If the law suit is won by the opponents, the McKay Scholarship and PLSAs will be in line to be attacked and there will be a precedence set by the initial suit.

 

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, Foundation for Florida’s Future is hosting a summit on school choice in Tallahassee.   We have learned that OPPONENTS to School Choice will be leading a PROTEST outside of the summit.

 

WE NEED PARENTS TO LEAD A COUNTER-PROTEST NEXT TUESDAY.  If not, all the public will hear is how bad it is for the public school that parents are utilizing their rights to choose private schools for their children.

 

Please talk with your parents and identify at least 2 who will join us on Tuesday.  If they do not speak up for their children, no one else will either.

 

We will be meeting at 12:30 at the FSU Alumni Center (1030 W. Tennessee St).  Parents will make signs and be a chanting group.  Parents, who want to, may also be talking to the media.  The main questions to have answers for:  Why has school choice been important for your child?  Why did you pick your school?  What would happen if your child did not have a choice?
