Matthew 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
HEAVENLY WISDOM PROPERLY VALUES HEAVENLY TREASURE (1)
This man was in the right place at the right time. He wasn't looking for treasure, but found it anyhow. The treasure being spoken of is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Though despised by many, the news of Jesus Christ dying for sin is the most valuable news a person can possess. It will outlast any sort of commodity that this earth can produce, and never declines in value. God in His grace and mercy works it out so that people are in the right place at the right time to hear a message that will change their lives forever. Even more so He gives understanding of it, to know how precious it is to know of Jesus as Savior.
A person may train for years to properly judge the value of a diamond, or how to discern whether a stock is overvalued or undervalued. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to lead someone to know the value of God's grace. All the head knowledge that you possess will lead you to estimate that salvation by grace is foolishness. Something for nothing just doesn't seem right. Countless souls are lost because free forgiveness seems too good to be true, or too simple and childish. That is a poor estimation. While there are not many that would pass up the purchase of a field with a vein of gold or a reservoir of oil, natural man is unwilling to make a sacrifice for heavenly treasure.
Though the man in the parable just happened upon a treasure in a field, it was no coincidence that led you to your Savior and His work. The Lord gave you heavenly wisdom to properly value heavenly treasure.
