Priscilla Lowry and Joan Taylor: Off The Wall
Opening in Main Gallery, Saturday 15 September, 3 – 4.30pm
A 40-year retrospective of Joan Taylor’s prints and paintings accompanied by Priscilla Lowry’s silk textiles. Priscilla has taken the theme of the sea - so evocative of Devonport- and with the use of stitching, embroidering, patching and knitting techniques has created silk garments to be worn and beautiful quilts which can be used as wall pieces or bedding.
Nina Levesque: The Structured Garden
15-27 September 2012
Opening in Outerspace Gallery, Saturday 15 September, 3 – 4.30pm
“I am excited discovering new possibilities during the processes, changing the way the reinvented image is experienced”. Nina’s penchant is for presenting familiar floral images in unfamiliar ways, commenting on the crossover between the real and generated as the image supersedes its original reading. Using various repetitive linking and rotating techniques, the often unexpected effects and illusions created during the construction process principally informs the resulting image.
