Dear Friends, Fans, & Folks of the World,
Happy days of Summer to you! We have been so busy around here, it appears I have another double-month newsletter for you.
In just the last few months it seems that things in my music world and creative life have suddenly taken off again. I've got a new bio, a new business card, my YouTube page up and working again, a new EP, a tour with a great line-up of shows, I'm co-hosting a room and playing at the Folk Alliance (Regional West) conference in the fall, and I've just submitted a proposal for a paper on music & motherhood. Yehaw!
I've got TWO very important & exciting announcements in particular for you:
1.) A NEW EP!!
2.) The Summer 2015 Pacific Northwest Tour
Exciting Annoucement #1 ~
have a new EP!! And it's my favorite work yet. It's really a preview for
the larger body of songs we are working on for the next full-length
album, however, these suddenly called to come together.
It is a
concept album, a story of new motherhood. It includes my very first cover song, Sarah McLachlan's "Sweet Surrender", which I have re-interpreted to be about the post-partum experience. The collection takes one from longing, to birth, through love, and self-loss, and the endless reaching for the Now, on a journey that is more than can ever be anticipated or imagined, for it is More Than Anything.
For now, these songs are available on limited-edition, hand-printed albums which you can get at any live show until they run out! Later this year I hope to get them online and available for digital download. I'll keep you posted, of course.
Exciting Announcement #2 ~
In just a few days I hit the road for what promises to be another wonderful Pacific Northwest Tour. We are also calling it, The Flip Flop Tour, named by my (now) 3 year old son, who has a flip-flop obsession. And, in truth I've felt a bit flip-floppy about the whole thing ("why am I going on tour? so much to do at home! look at this messy house, and this overgrown garden!") but really, I'm so glad it's happening. I feel so lucky I get to tour WITH my family, and visit many friends along the way. You can see the full schedule at the bottom of this email, or on the facebook event (which you should join, if you're on facebook, even if you can't really come).
And if you don't live in Oregon or Washington, but have friends who do, please pass the word along! We love meeting new friends.
Many thanks to Sean Stanton for his graphic design work on the tour poster!
If you live locally near me in the Santa Cruz area ~
I'd like to invite you to be adventurous ~
and be all 21st century with me, and if you see me along the road, get the new album, or have something to share on social media about any of it, use the hashtags:
We'll be attempting to keep you all posted in social media land about our adventures on the road. And if you're wondering who this "we" is I keep talking about, watch my silly tour promo video and meet the crew!
Hope to sing with you soon!
in peace, love & music,
