[ Historic Map Sets ] [ Program Updates ]
December 7 2010 What's new in All Topo Maps? Historic Map coverage for Colorado and Wyoming! (also Utah). If you are hunting for gold, relics, historic road and rail alignments, the latest All Topo Map sets with Historic content may be your best search tool. Most modern maps are stripped of the three R's (roads-ruins-relics) and other interesting features and place names. This extensive historic collection offers a one of a kind glimpse of the past through the eyes of the federal surveyors. The maps are geo-referenced and projected to UTM so features plotted in All Topo are shown on top of historic maps. You can even hillshade these beautiful maps. Colorado: We have added 1,143 historic maps including 163 15-minute maps and 49 125K Reconnaissance maps. Interesting maps include 1913 Castle Rock, 1948 Pikes Peak and 1903 Lake City. The Colorado historic set is an interesting peak at mining camps, railroads, and historic byways. Wyoming: This latest set includes 895 historic maps including 153 15-minute maps and 80 125K maps. There are many really interesting maps in this series including 1926 Encampment 90K, 1896 Yellowstone NP Shoshone, 1905 Sheridan, and 1908 Rock Springs. Or course, everyone will have their own favorite map or area...check out the general historic map coverage overviews for [ Colorado ] and [ Wyoming ] and the full set map lists with thumbnails [ historic map lists ] as not all areas in a state have historic coverage. The original paper maps are scanned at 400 dpi, then reprojected and down-sampled to 250 DPI, 24-bit full color images. I have placed a full resolution copy samples for evaluation. If you purchased Colorado, Utah or Wyoming DVD sets within the last 30 days, call us for a free upgrade to the historic set. We have inexpensive upgrade sets ($114) for existing state set users and great deals for adding new states to your V7 Pro collections ($125). Call your local All Topo dealer or the factory directly (+1-801-412-0011) for additional information on these historic map sets. |
