Mark 6:30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught.
RETURN
It seems so natural. Jesus had come to His own country and marveled at their unbelief. Then He had sent out the twelve disciples, two by two, throughout the area to call sinners to repentance. Now they return and report back to Him.
They had not only preached, but they had also cast out many demons and healed many who were sick. Surely the Christ knew what they were doing, for He had given them the power to do it, but He listened to their accounts, no doubt with joy. He also knew when they needed a rest. He told them to come apart for a while to rest after their journeys. Were they also talking about Herod killing John the Baptist? Another reason to pause and ponder awhile, and remember that God is still in control while Satan's tail is thrashing on the ground.
Many of us have come to the end of another work-week. Whatever positive things we remember have been accomplished through the power which Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gives. Let us also return to Him and tell Him. Do we sometimes report to each other, to the congregation and to the synod, maybe even to the world, but forget to tell Him both what we have done and what we have taught? We might say, "Oh, He already knows." But does He not still want to hear us? By reporting to Him who has given us life and breath and all the energy to do and teach, we will be rejoicing in what He has done through us and through our co-workers in the Kingdom of God.
