Joshua 24:14-15 Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

WHY REDEDICATE OURSELVES TO THE LORD?

The Israelite people had all sorts of god options. And really, nothing has changed. Today most of us have an "across the River" option, an "Egypt" option, and an "Amorite" option.

If I went back far enough, I'd find my German forefathers worshiping trees. That's my "across the River" option.

I don't know how many gods there were in Egypt, but the last city I lived in had Hindu Temples, Buddhist Temples, Moslem Mosques, and a nearly unending parade of churches -- each promising a connection to the divine. That's my "Egypt" option.

Or if I want to stay at home, I could just look into what the natives used to worship. That would be my "Amorite" option.

And with all our smart phones and computers, today the god options are endless. Just Google it. The almighty internet will supply a god for you to worship.

But a billion gods to choose from doesn't change the fact that there's only one TRUE Creator. One God who really IS. ONE who became human for us. One who said, "I will save these sinners, for they cannot save themselves." One who suffered our hell, died our death, and rose from the dead to declare our salvation sure.

Why should we rededicate ourselves to Yahweh (Jehovah), the triune God? Because if we abandon the God who saved us, we abandon our only hope.
