Hello from RWT Farm!
This is our very first Newsletter and we welcome all of you with open arms! We thank you for supporting this start-up. Your moral support has helped us in more ways than you could ever know.
As this is the first issue of the RWT Farm Newsletter, I apologize in advance for it being so long, but there are a LOT of things to get caught up on. Hopefully, after this one, we will be able to keep more up to date on all the happenings here and with you and with what's happening in the world regarding GMOs, Organics & the world's food supply.
For anyone who has missed signing up for this issue, I will also post this on the Blog on the website.
We hope you are as excited as we are about what's happening now and what's coming up. So sit back and enjoy a good read...
What's New
1. We now accept Canadian Tire Money at par. So if you have a roll of the stuff sitting in a drawer somewhere, why not trade it in for some healthy, organic eats?!?
2. We have two American Cocker Spaniel Puppies still looking for their 'Forever Homes'
You know you want one.....Contact Us!
3. We have been accepted as one of the Host Local Producers at the annual 'Local Food & Culinary Tourism Summit' at the Stratford campus of 'U of W' this Monday, Feb. 27, 2012. We will be meeting with other local producers and head chefs/buyers representing restaurants throughout Southern Ontario. We're really looking forward to it! This is a BIG one!! I'll be tweeting updates throughout the event, so hook up with us on Twitter @RWTFarm.
4. Are you too far away to benefit from our Local Produce? You can still support us! Check out our new Swag Page and pick up something with our Logo on it! You will be supporting our efforts at feeding our community with Local, Healthy & Affordable Organic Food.
5. Got a friend who needs to eat healthy? We now offer Gift Certificates! Good for ANYTHING that we have! Know somebody who lives on Ramen Noodles or Kraft Dinner? Give them the gift of Organic Food. Check the website for details.
6. Yes, it's been a weird winter, and so it goes that this is the year that we tapped our Maple Trees for the first time. Sap runs...it doesn't run...it runs....not....and so on. But hey, it's our first year and we already have a few litres of virgin Maple Syrup from trees that have never been tapped before. If you are interested in this unique treat, please contact us.
7. Due to literally MASSIVE interest in our organic, free-range eggs we are more than doubling the flock next month. Please remember there is a huge difference between 'free-run' and free-range' eggs/chicken. ALL of ours are 'Free-Range'. Please contact me if you would like any clarification on this controversial subject. So, we are looking forward to being able to fulfill all the requests for eggs within the next couple of months. Our current Coop name is 'The Egg Plant'. The new coop with the second flock will be called the 'Coopa Cabana'. The dogs are going to have to move to new digs.
8. Oh My! Yes, it's true. Sharon & I have signed up for the MultiSport Canada Lakeside Triathlon event in September. We will be representing RWT Farm in fine form as Sharon does the Biathlon on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the 50+ category and I'm doing the Olympic Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 16 in the 45+ age group. Cheer us on if you can! Stephanie Auer....I'm calling you out! You need to do this one too! :D
9. Turkey! I know it seems like a long way away, but if you think you would like a turkey or 2 or 3 in the fall, we really need to know now. We are raising Broad Breasted Bronze Turkeys (not the factory white, antibiotic, steroid pumped ones from the supermarket) this year, so if you think you would enjoy a pure turkey for the fall or winter, PLEASE contact us as soon as possible, as we need to order the chicks ASAP.
9.1. PLEASE NOTE: If anyone is interested in something unusual, like Duck, Goose, Pheasant, Quail, Emu, etc., please contact us. We have an open mind and nothing is off the table.
10. In anticipation of our upcoming Podcast Series, we have launched the OTR page that will soon be offering our massive collection of Old Time Radio Shows. Over 140,000 shows! It is amazing. Watch for the launch of our Podcast series in the near future. FOUR podcasts covering the following:
· Fresh Eats - Video Podcast = Cooking/Recipes/How-To
· Micro-Farming - Audio & Video Podcast = All things Urban Agriculture and Micro-Farming
· Triathlon For Newbs - Video Podcast = For newcomers to triathlon
· Ultimate OTR Collection - Audio Podcast = Featuring the best of the Golden Age of Radio
11. Speaking of the Podcast Series....I finally finished the home studio. I imagine Sandra & Lewis may enjoy this part. Here are a couple of pics...
12. Oh yes....I almost forgot. Our daughter, Robyn is now engaged to be married. Can somebody loan me some $? Please? Or maybe just a few more hours in the day.....
So that's what's been happening so far here at RWT Farm....
This is what's in the works for the near future:
· New plans for the website:
a. User's Poll
b. Podcast Page
c. Emergency Preparedness Page & Kits
d. Recipe Page
· Yep, the rumors are true. Our course on dog grooming is here, so Grooming, Doggy Day Care & Boarding is all in the works.
· We are currently researching the methods/pros/cons of supplying Micro-Greens & Sprouts as well as starting a Mushroom Grow Room. We'll keep you posted on this development in further Newsletters.
· As some of you already know, I'm an avid Food Photographer, so an RWT Cookbook has been in the back of my mind for some time now. I'm hoping that we will have something put together by the fall. Any thoughts/comments/ideas on the project would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading and thanks for signing up for the Newsletter!
