Stitchin', Bitchin' and Knitting around the Christmas tree

Last meeting of 2008... First meeting of 2009: the newbies meet!... 2008 round-up

Yuletide greetings to you

We hope this newsletter finds you well, with excitement in your belly at the upcoming festivities and any Christmas knitting you maybe doing well on its way to being finished.

With Christmas just 10 days away (how did it creep up so quickly?) S&B London will be taking a break over the festive period to recharge our woolly batteries.

We will return refreshed, with needles at the ready for another amazing year of stitching ahead of us in January 2009. We hope your New Year's resolution includes coming to knit with us more.

Our last few meetings have seen us blasted with the sweet sound of carol singers at the Museum of London, where the mysteries of a lovely stripy baby grow were figured out and determined knitters took to the floor in the absence of chairs.

At Ev we had a bit of a disaster when our favourite deli was closed for Christmas parties. We put a sign up on the door and moved round the corner to Café Nero on the Cut. We apologise to any of you who did not see the sign and went away disappointed. We'll make it up to you at the Christmas party!

Stitch and S&B Xmas Party! Secret Santa! Woo!!

Details of the last meeting in 2008:

Come and join us in rounding off a fabulous year of stitching with a night of Christmas festivities.

If you have managed to knit a gift for the Secret Santa draw simply drop it into the giant Christmas stocking when you arrive. From 7pm you will be able to pull a gift out for your very own and spy on the reaction of who ever received your gift.

If you have not knitted something for Secret Santa then we still welcome you with yarn-covered open arms to come join us; newbies, old hands, and wallflowers alike.

After the wrapping paper has been ripped into tiny pieces (and maybe after a spot of knitting), we will be getting into the Christmas spirit(s) by inviting you, your other half/ friends/ family to join us for festive drinks and general merriment until late.

Come one, come all… it's CHRISTMAAAAAASSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Stitch and Looking back at another year of S&B London

This year has been another great one for S&B London and it's all down to you lot, yep, that's you! We'd like to thank everyone that has read and enjoyed the newsletter, as well as those who supported us by coming along to the groups and helping us teach the hundreds of newbies that have attended in 2008.

This year we knitted at a plethora of venues including a bowling lane, on a dimly lit boat, in pubs, theatres, tiny tea shops, a very grand house and in the park.

Babies have been born and conceived (not during the group!). We hosted our annual Knit Crawl in style and made a stack of money with the Breast Cancer Care Blanket.

The knitting world was set alight with great events as the Crochet coral reef came to town, the Ravelympics gave us all a run for our money and Ally Pally and I Knit Day were great successes.

The lovely people that bring you S&B London, the Stitchettes, had a busy year with Laura 'Purl Princess' Parkinson getting hitched and spending a whole year as Knitting Magazine's Purl About Town.
Lauren 'Deadly Knit-Shade' O'Farrell came back from France and then went off to India to find her inner knitter.
Stitchette Candice 'Go Go Garter Girl' Lamb left the fold to follow her publishing dreams and we were joined by the amazing Annisa 'Dr. Stitchlove' Chand and Jenny 'Startitis' Steere.
And finally Joelle 'Knitting Ninja' Fink has just returned fully qualified to teach foreign languages abroad, so who knows where the wind will take her in 2009.

Amongst all this the Stitchettes bought you the knitting news, organised 50 meetings, taught hoards of newbies and had a most fabulous time doing it. Lets give them a hand!

All that is left is to wish you all a very merry Christmas and hope that you have a great time over the festive break. We look forward to seeing/ meeting you in the New Year with your sticks and string at the ready.

May the Stitch be with you!
