Hello Firstname
Happy New Year to all at BPS

Wednesday 8 January
To 'kick off' the New Year, John Chamberlin will present, by digital projection, a selection of his most recent images. Nearly all of these will be shown for the first time. The work will include close up studies, travel images, landscapes in both black and white and colour as well as a variety of  wildlife images. Some of the images have been taken close to his home or in other parts of Britain whilst others were shot in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. All the images shown have been captured with a minimal use of Photoshop. There will also be a selection of prints for viewing during the interval.

Looking For Images For DPIC
Pete McCloskey is looking for images for this year's BPS entry to the WCPF DPIC competition. If you think you have any suitable images, or would like further information, please contact Pete at pmccloskey11@btinternet.com or catch him at any Wednesday meeting.

Fancy a trip to Iceland?
I have received the following from BPS member, Derwood Pamphilon:

Dear Fellow Photographers

We are planning a photographic holiday in Iceland for one week between the dates of 27th April - 4th May. This will be a great opportunity to take some competition winning images in quite extraordinary terrain. Some of you will have been there before and will have already experienced the delights on offer. Flights depart/return from Bristol to/from Reykjavik on Thursday and Sunday and currently cost about £70 return. Hotels can be sourced at about £50 pppn and are simple and decent. We might also look at self-catering options that are even cheaper! 4WD vehicles work out at about £450-500 pw.
The sort of schedule we have in mind is something like:
  • Day 1 Arrive Reykjavik; night photography
  • Days 2/3 Hella region see waterfalls at Skogafloss and Seljandsfloss coastal region near Vik with black beaches
  • Days 4/5 Skaftafell National Park including the iconic glacier region at Jokulsarlon
  • Days 6/7 Northern highlights at Dettifloss and Godafoss, Lake Myvatn for geothermal wonders
  • Days 7/8 Return Reykjavik and fly home.
The average cost is about £550 per person minimum but will depend on how early we book.

The schedule is very preliminary and we need some input from the Iceland experts in BPS!

Six people have already expressed an interest. A party of 10-12 photographers would be ideal.

Please can you contact either Judith Richley or me ASAP if you would like to discuss further, input suggestions or book up!

Thanks

Derwood and Judith
