Next week we welcome back to BPS, Bill Ward who will be presenting his talk North by NorthWest. Here's what Bill has to say about his talk:
Join multi award-winning Bristol based photographer and actor Bill Ward as he takes you on a journey along the rugged and remote Northwest frontier of the British Isles. From Applecross to Durness, and from Stornoway to Vatersay, Bill has travelled the length and breadth of the Outer Hebrides, as well as walking the far Northwest corner of the Scottish Mainland. Expect seascapes aplenty, standing stones, and Bill’s unique mix of Creative Photography: Abstracts, ICMs, and In Camera Multiple Exposures.

Parking - Important Notice |
I realised last Wednesday that there will be many members who have joined BPS since I last published details of where we can and cannot park when attending the clubrooms on a Wednesday evening, or for any other evening meetings. Below is a Google earth image of the estate showing areas where the occupants have indicated that they are not willing for us to use their forecourts for parking (shown in red). Needless to say, when parking during the daytimes, we need to be particularly careful where we park as this is a "working estate". I have shown in yellow the areas where normal daytime parking is permitted. Basically, what it all boils down to is that parking is generally permitted through the generosity of the various occupants of the estate and we should always be considerate when parking and only park in those areas indicated below. Importantly, if a unit is obviously open and working, then please avoid their forecourt - this last sentence applies at ALL times.

DI Group - Practical Evening |
The next meeting is on Monday 12, May - This is NOT a Zoom meeting
Following Simon Caplan’s inspirational presentation at the last Digital Imaging Group on Still Life Photography, we are going to have another session taking still life/table-top images, drawing on the principals of composition and storytelling that that Simon spoke about.
Think about a subject you would like to photograph and bring some items that you can use to construct your image. Think about:
- Composition
- Story telling
- Colour harmony
- Textures
We will have items already in the studio so don’t worry if you don’t think you have any suitable items.
If you weren’t able to attend the last DI Group practical evening or would like some inspiration, take look at some of the links in the attached ‘reading list’ that Simon has recommended.
Look forward to seeing you all.
Rachel Domleo & Mike Martin.

As some of you will know a defibrillator is due be installed outside of Unit 13 in the coming weeks. It is not exclusively for BPS but will be available to all units on the estate. It’s one thing having the defibrillator there, it is another to have people in BPS that know how to use it, and also to administer CPR if needed.
To this end we are arranging for a training session to take place at Unit 13 on Wednesday 21 May at 6pm. The session will be a combination of verbal and practical training and will last for approximately 1 hour.
We hope that you will be interested and attend this training session, the more members we have who can step up if it becomes necessary the better.
Looking forward to seeing you on the evening.

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items
for sale, drop me a line and I'll include them in the next newsletter.
Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full
description of the sale items (pictures always help).
