First Christmas Day
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
THE ONLY BEGOTTEN
The birth of any child is a special occasion, for in each birth we see the marvelous variety God has woven into His creation. Each baby's fingerprints are different. The eyes, feet, face, and mind are one-of-a-kind.
Yet the child of Bethlehem is unique above all others, for He is the only begotten Son of the Father. There is none other in all the universe like the One wrapped in swaddling clothes today.
What the fathers most desired,
What the prophets' heart inspired,
What they longed for many a year,
Stands fulfilled in glory here.
Our Hope and Expectation is found in Bethlehem. The One who crushes the head of our enemy is here. Hear the voice which beckons from the manger, "Come to me you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Mary has indeed delivered the Deliverer!
Oh, may we keep and ponder in our mind
God's wondrous love in saving lost mankind!
Trace we the Babe, who hath retrieved our loss,
From His poor manger to His bitter cross,
Tread in His steps, assisted by His grace,
Till man's first heavenly state again takes place.
Glory to God in the highest!
