This Month's BONK! is a special event in which we will be synchronizing with other arts communities around the world!  One Hundred Thousand Poets for Change is a worldwide poetry (and music and art and miming....) festival that has been happening annually worldwide since 2011.  In it's first year, it became the largest poetry event in known history and it has grown every year.  Which means: this month, you have a chance to be a part of the LARGEST POETRY EVENT IN HISTORY TO DATE!

This will be the first time ever that Racine has hosted an event to be a part 100TPFC.  There will be 7 events happening on this day in Wisconsin alone and HUNDREDS (likely over a thousand, even) happening around the world.  We will be harmonzing with the efforts people in Afghanistan, Egypt, Brazil, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Libya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and DOZENS of other countries--all gathering under  poetry, the arts and the belief that we can change the world for the better through our actions, through our words and through these arts.  We will be reading about Climate Change, Human Trafficking, The #BlackLivesMatter Movement, Food Scarcity, War Profiteering and countless other issues that we want to see change in our world.  However, beyond all of these things, we will be focused on the transformative power of LOVE and how poetry and the arts can foster that love in ourselves and our communities in astounding ways.

Come join us for the largest poetry event in history to date--and you'll be contribtuing to the whole world's collective energy in making our planet a kinder, more sustainable place of peace for all!

**

This week, beloved BONK! family member Marcie Eanes left this world and moved on into the afterlife.  While we are very sad to lose Marcie--who was a tirelessly present in our community--especially the literary community, we are glad to have had her in our lives and glad to know she joins Walter Hermanns, Jim Osborne, Moses, Mary Finley, and all the other Elders in the great beyond.  Marcie was going to be a participant in our September event and, though she will not be there physically, we know she will be there in spirit and we will make sure she is represented as such.  Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us, Marcie!  You overcame remarkable odds time and time again in your life and you helped show us just how powerful a tool of healing poetry can be.  THANK YOU, MARCIE!  WE LOVE YOU!
