Hello Firstname

Apologies (Part 2)
I think that we have resolved the problems we had yesterday: it looks very much like the source of the problem was that Plusnet has registered the @bristolphoto.org.uk domain as spam. I am working with them to get "our good name cleared", so it should only be plusnet customers who don't get this email.

Wednesday 29 July
Change to programme - Next Wednesday will now see a visit from Harish Chavda (Arden Group) with his print talk called - Sporting Images. Harish is a regular and very successful exhibitor on both the national and international exhibition circuits. You can read more about him by following this link, where you will also be able to see the sports photography website that he runs.

Digital Imaging Group
It is some sixteen years ago that Ashwin started the Digital Imaging Group in his living room, which is where I guess the tradition of chocolate biscuits started. It was not too long before the group outgrew his living room (could that be linked to the chocolate biscuits?) and moved to the now regular monthly meetings at the clubrooms.
We now have superb clubrooms and Ashwin felt that it was time to review how best the Digital Group meetings can serve members' interests. He has compiled a second questionnaire (the first one was in 1997) to assess members' opinion, a copy of which is attached to this newsletter. Could you please take the time to open and complete the questionnaire, use the button at the top of the questionnaire to print it and either hand it directly to Ashwin or put it in the box that will be at the back of the clubrooms. Ashwin is particularly interested in any comments or suggestions you may have, so please make use of the space provided at the end to add these.

Print Group
The Print Group quarterly meeting, run by Pete McCloskey and Graham Reeves will be held on Monday 3 August. The group is open to all members, but its aim is to give advice and prepare members ahead of applying for the photographic distinctions of the RPS and PAGB.
If you'd like further information, please email Pete at pmccloskey11@btinternet.com, and I'm sure he'll be pleased to help

Paper Bargain!
The club has a quantity of Fotospeed paper for sale that was received as payment for Salon catalogue advertising. It is Fotospeed PF Lustre A3 size, 275gm in boxes of 50 sheets.  We are asking £30 per box, which is a massive reduction of 25% from list price.  Anyone interested, please speak to Keith Wood on Wednesday or drop me an email chairman@bristolsalon.co.uk

Unit 13 - Update
Those of you at last Wednesday's meeting will have heard the speaker comment of the warm tone of the lights over the stage. Apart from cutting yours truly to the quick (by daring to criticise our wonderful new emporium) he did hit on a problem that we already knew about, but are powerless to fix. As far as we can find out, the lamps in question are not made any closer to daylight than the ones we have, so for the time being we will just have to accept that the compromise of bright and pretty even illumination and reasonable colour renedering will have to suffice.

Library
Many of you have asked what happened to the library when we moved. Despite the large amount of space that we have, it was felt that, owing to the low usage by members, that we couldn't justify putting it in as prominent place as it was at West Mall. We have now decided that we can find a home for it just inside the store door on the first floor. Our librarian, Mike Bigger has spent the last few months clearing out the dross to leave us with a library containing about 160 fairly up to date books, a full list of which can be obtained from Mike, either printed or emailed as a Microsoft Excel Worksheet. Offers of recent surplus books are welcomed by our Mike.

Spread the Word!
It would be really good if members could spread the word about our new clubrooms, a good way of doing this is to let people know that they can see what we have to offer by visiting the BPS website and viewing the new page showing off the clubrooms - click here to see what I mean.
