Psalm 130:1-2 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

THE LORD HEARS AND ATTENDS

It's sometimes difficult to get people's attention. Especially nowadays with television, cell phones, tablets, and smart watches everywhere. We have so many things constantly distracting us. We don't always hear when someone is trying to get our attention. God doesn't have that problem. He is ALWAYS attentive to the voice of our pleas for mercy!

In humble repentance, the psalmist cries out to the one person he knows will always hear him. Just so, you are encouraged to approach God with the same humble attitude. The guilt-ridden consequences of your sin constantly reminds you of your failures, but God's Word has good news for you. No matter how many sinful regrets you have, no matter how much nagging guilt over the past mistakes of your life, no matter how buried you feel in the depth of your own iniquities, you can always trust that God is ready to listen and attend to you! In his word, he comforts you with the fact that you don't have to worry about the eternal consequences of your sin anymore. Because of the forgiveness found in Christ's empty cross and empty tomb, your sins are completely forgiven. Because of Christ's work as the Gospel Mediator between God and man, your Almighty Father declares you "not guilty" and continues to hear your pleas for mercy day after day.

We have a constant life-line to the most powerful person in the world. We cry out to the LORD and He answers. Every single time. No matter what. Psalm 50:15, "Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me." What a relief! What a comfort!
