C.W. GORTNER will read from
The Confessions of Catherine de Medici
Thursday, June 10th at 7 PM
From the acclaimed author of The Last Queen comes an ambitious and brilliantly imagined novel about the dramatic, tragic and misunderstood life of one of history's most powerful and controversial women. To some, Catherine de Medici was the ruthless queen who led France into an era of savage violence. To others, she was the passionate savior of the French monarchy. Gortner brings Catherine to life in her own voice, allowing us to enter into the intimate world of a woman whose determination to protect her family's throne plunged her into a lethal struggle for power.
"Alison Weir and Philippa Gregory fans will devour this smashing fictional biography of a complex woman whose legend has withstood the test of time." — Booklist

Scent of the Missing
Sunday, June 13th at 2 PM*
Don't miss a very special afternoon with Susannah Charleson and her search-and-rescue dog, Puzzle. Charleson shares stories of adventure, crime-solving, rescue and recovery in her book, Scent of the Missing. After training with Dallas' elite Metro Area Rescue K9 unit, Charleson adopted Puzzle, a strong, bright Golden Retriever puppy who exhibited unique aptitudes as a working dog but who was less interested in the role of compliant house pet. The duo forge a close relationship as they search for the lost.
