Wednesday 12 March

For the second time in a few weeks, we are to be treated to an evening by our own Barry Mead FRPS who will be presenting an evening that is "Anything but Creative!"

Barry writes the following about his talk:

My talk will include images of USA landscapes, Portraits and Nature. The Nature images are from USA (including Yellowstone), Namibia, Kenya, The Falklands and Slimbridge. Many members might not know that I did my DPAGB and MPAGB with nature prints.  A lot of the images of all types were used for salons to acquire the FIAP Levels up to Platinum.

The Diamond levels were largely Creative. All tonight’s images are straight with only removal of sensor marks/odd highlights, cropping (where applicable) and the occasional use of a grad filter.

Below are a few of Barry's images from the talk:

DI Group - Practical Evening
The next practical session is scheduled for Monday 17 March at 7.30pm [This session will not be zoomed] and will cover table-tops using tools. If you have any old tools, bric-a-brac, etc, bring it along and have a go at photographing them – feel free to bring any fruit or veg to augment your creations too.

Bring tripods (if you need to borrow one, let Mike Martin know). It’s also worth bringing hand torches to illuminate your creations.

A great result with four of our six entries receiving awards. Congratulations to Derwood Pamphilon, Jay Hallsworth, Pam Sherren, and Simon Caplan.  Commiserations to Barry Mead and John Chamberlin. Having won both rounds to date we are currently in first place 9 points clear of the second-place club, in Group C.

Martin Parr
It looks like the film about Martin Parr, I am Martin Parr, which was originally advertised as being at the Watershed until 27 February (in Issue 620) has been extended to 13 March. Several BPS members have already seen this and highly recommend it.

This link, sent to me by BPS member, Sian Jones, provides a big write-up about the film - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gdx7r4w02o
