Haftarah Plethora
In the Haftarah Plethora for the Shabbat of Hanukah, Rick delights in the plethora of spectacular tropes, including the rare and elusive mercha kefula. Larry speculates that the rabbis chose this reading from Zechariah as part of their attempt to de-emphasize the nationalistic and militaristic aspects of Hanukah. Norm provides an interesting background for the text and gives us a little taste of Debbie Friedman’s "Not by Might."
You can see Larry and Ricks recordings on our Library Minyan Facebook page: facebook.com/libraryminya
