DVD's - laat ze overzetten voordat het te laat is.
Discrot (soms ook genoemd disc rot) is de neiging van CD's, DVD's of andere optische schijven om onleesbaar te worden door fysieke of chemische aantasting. De oorzaken zijn oxidatie van de reflecterende laag, fysieke slijtage van de disc, reacties met verontreinigende stoffen, schade door ultraviolet licht en het loslaten van de lijm waarmee de lagen van de disc aan elkaar zijn geplakt.
Door CD rot / DVD rot gaat een CD of DVD stapje voor stapje achteruit en dit begint al direct na het branden van de schijfjes. Ons advies is om geen risico's te namen en data en video van CD's en DVD's zo snel mogelijk over te zetten naar andere dragers zoals USB sticks, harddisk, of in de cloud.

DVDs - transfer these, before the video's get lost
Disc rot (sometimes referred to as disc decay) is the tendency of CDs, DVDs or other optical discs to become unreadable due to physical or chemical deterioration. Causes include oxidation of the reflective layer, physical wear of the disc, reactions with contaminants, damage from ultraviolet light, and loosening of the glue that binds the layers of the disc together.
CD rot / DVD rot causes a CD or DVD to deteriorate step by step, starting immediately after burning the discs. Our advice is not to take any risks and to transfer data and video from CDs and DVDs to other media such as USB sticks, hard disks or in the cloud as soon as possible.
