Dear Friends,
Happy June to you. I know that greeting falls a bit flat when the coldness of the events in our world don't really line up with the warmth of this season. I rewrote the beginning of this newsletter 6 times because i just really didn't know how to start.
No doubt everyone is just a bit tired...soul-wearied.

Maybe we should just acknowlege it but not stuff it down like we typically do culturally. I feel a fresh wind in this season to be out performing again... especially at a time like this. If you know me, you know music for me is not (merely) entertainment, but something more like engagement. I think I'm feeling ready to continue the work. I feel like its necessary to, not make noise...or fill a hole in my calendar, but release a sound that echos out into the streets and moves a few mountains, heals a few hearts. Music can do that! That's my job! So that's what I'm going to do.

New Podcasts

The Creative Backstory: An Interview w/ Kelly Planer
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Kelly's studio! We covered every single base in what felt like the most comprehensive interview I've done in years. I share what I've been up to for the last 2 years, my current creative projects, I share some Paint on the Porch stories, and I also read some poetry aloud. [listen here]

UPenn's: Race & Regulation Podcast
University of Pennsylvania's Law School has just launched a new podcast called Race & Regulation - a historial and regulatory exploration into the ways the world of Law has played a part in creating racial inequality societally. In its first season, my catalog is used as the musical soundtrack through the 10 episodes. Give it a listen! Chances are you will not agree with everything you hear, but you will learn something new.  [tune in]

Wearing Love is on the Road!

One of the reasons I am most excited about this summer is that I get to share Wearing Love with people in real time at live events. If you plan to make it to a show, be on the lookout!

If you're not local, hit up the website for the latest. There are currently a few new designs for pre-order and the June Wallpaper of the Month goes out next week, so don't forget to subscribe. Follow along on Instagram for some weekly inspiration.

p.s. thanks to Brianna & Peace, my lovely models!

Kids Being Kids

With the events of last week. I just have not been able to put words to any of my thoughts or feelings. No doubt you are also wrestling with this. I'm sure at some point it will come out in a poem, or maybe even a song. And when it does, I'll be sure to share. But for now, I just wanted to share a light-hearted song the kids created at one of my center locations last week. I hope it brings a smile to your face and some warmth to your heart. Watch

Love to you all in these crazy times,
Joy
