Secondary Water Restrictions

The low level in the secondary water retention pond have led to low water pressure. The secondary water board has imposed watering restrictions:
odd--even water days according to your address.
For instance, if you address is 489 S 7500 E, you would water on odd days. If it is 420 S 7500 E then you would water on even days.
Without going into a lengthy physics discussion, I will overview the problem. Due to reduced flow into the retention pond and high water usage, the water level in the retention pond is very low - more water going out than coming in, and the pond never has a chance to fill.
With regard to the low pressure, there is static pressure and dynamic pressure.
Dynamic (or velocity) pressure = total pressure - static pressure.
When the water level (elevation) in the pond is decreased, the static pressure is also decreased. The higer the water elevation, the higher the static pressure. The lower the water elevation, the lower the static pressure.
By going to odd/even watering, the pond will have a chance to recover, and hopefully, the water pressure will increase.

Amazing Raise Fundraiser Under Way - Link to form attached

The Community Foundation of Ogden Valley (CFOV) is having annual fundraiser from now until September 8, 2012, when they will host their Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.
We have attached a donation form. All donations with Huntsville Park checked will be matched by the CFOV. If you donate $10, the town will receive $20.
The town is in need of Trees and landscaping for the Valley School property and the proceeds of your generous donation will go to that project.

Highway 39 Construction Update
|
Road Work Update:
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is in the process of recycling and repaving state Road 39, from its junction with SR-158 at the Pineview Dam to 100 East in Huntsville. Rotomilling is complete and paving will continue through approximately mid-September.
The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather conditions, emergency situations, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.
8/23/12 Update: Rotomilling operations are complete and paving is underway between Pineview Dam and 100 East in Huntsville. One-way traffic will be directed by flaggers and pilot car in approximately one-mile segments and motorists should expect up to 15-minute delays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Temporary access restrictions (15 to 20 minutes) will be necessary as construction equipment passes by driveways. Alternate accesses will be maintained where possible.
General Construction Impacts: The majority of work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, up to seven days a week, with traffic limited to one open lane in the work zone on SR-39.
- Traffic will be controlled with flaggers and a pilot car, and motorists can expect up to 15-minute delays.
- All travel lanes will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 5-6 p.m. and Fridays from 4-7 p.m.
- Cyclists and pedestrians are required to yield to work zone traffic control.
- Motorists with time sensitive travel are urged to plan ahead and use alternate routes, such as SR-167, theTrappers Loop Highway, and Interstate 84 via Weber Canyon to access the Ogden area.
Project Features: This project involves the removal the present asphalt surface, recycling and repaving it in one process using specialized milling and paving equipment. The repaving process involves the use of a "paving train," which heats and removes the existing asphalt surface, injects new road oils into the old material, and then replaces it back on to the roadway. The final phase of this process lays down a thin layer of new asphalt over the recycled materials, providing a strengthened roadway surface. Once the paving is complete a chip seal is applied to the roadway, providing a weather-resistant seal to the recycled asphalt.
The project also includes the following roadway safety improvements in the SR-39 corridor:
- Centerline rumble strips through Ogden Canyon from milepost 9 to 11.5. Rumble strips are grooves milled into the pavement that produce audible vibrations to drivers who leave the intended travel lane. They are designed to alert inattentive drivers and have proven to be an effective countermeasure for crossover vehicle collisions.
- Guardrail modifications east of Hunstville towards Monte Cristo from milepost 14 to 35
Other Area Projects: Construction is also underway on a UDOT project to make safety improvements to state Road 158 (Powder Mountain Highway), from its beginning at Pine View Dam to milepost 8.1.
