Next Wednesday we have The WCPF Travelling Print Exhibition. The exhibition is made up of prints have been chosen from those high scoring prints selected for inclusion in the WCPF Members Exhibition but that did not quite make it into the final selection for hanging at the main venues (unfortunately there was only room to display around 150 prints in the at these venues). The remaining selected prints are circulated to many of the WCPF clubs so that these excellent, high scoring prints can be enjoyed and appreciated by their members.

Stunning sea views are the subject of the Shipwrecked Mariners' Society photography competition. The national maritime charity is on the search for images that best encapsulate Britain's enduring connection with the sea, including coastal vistas, ships and wrecks, harbours and ports. The deadline for entries is 4 August. Find out more and submit your images at shipwreckedmariners.orq.uk
If you love to record your globetrotting adventures, look no further than Travel Photographer of the Year. Open to photographers of all ages, the competition has a diverse range of categories and themes covering everything from landscape and wildlife, to humanitarian and environmental issues. In addition to receiving significant international exposure, the overall winner will be awarded a prize worth over £5,000. Enter your images by 25 September, at tpoty.com
The Aesthetica Art Prize 2017 is open for entries. Now in its 11th year, the Prize presents an opportunity for emerging and established artists and photographers to showcase their work to new audiences and further their engagement in the art world.

Upfest 2017, Europe’s largest, free, street art & graffiti festival, attracting over 300 artists, takes place at 35 venues throughout the Bedminster & Southville areas of the City over the weekend of 29-31 Jul July. Talented artists travel from 30 countries and across the UK to paint live on 30,000sqft of surfaces in front of 35,000 visitors. The return of Thundercat racing to Clevedon. This is a great free event for those who fancy photographing high speed powerboats as they race around a course set with the pier at its heart. Amman Valley Trotting Club in South Wales - A special weekend of motor cycle Dirt Track Racing will be held at Amman Valley again this year, a small group of club members travelled down the M4 last year for a successful day of sports photography. Fotospeed are delighted to bring together 4 world-renowned photographers for a day of talks Sunday 10 September at the EDGE, University of Bath Following on from the success of 2016 Fotospeed are thrilled to host FotoFest 2017 at a new state of the art location. You will have the opportunity to hear talks from 4 amazingly talented photographers, Martin Hartley, Paul Sanders, Ben Hall and Colin Prior. You will also have access to the market place featuring industry leading brands and take advantage of some very special offers. The market place is open and free to anyone who wishes to visit with or without a ticket for the talks. This year we will be holding FotoFest in The Edge building at Bath University. As the event is on a Sunday, parking is free and there is plenty of it. We are also including complimentary tea and coffee for all those who attend the talks. Full details here.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition will
premiere at the M Shed at the same time as the national opening at the
Natural History Museum in London, it will run from 21 October 2017- 08
April 2018.

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Would all members please note: before you plan your shoot and book your model, you should check whether the studio/clubroom will be free. This can be done easily and at any time by viewing the Clubroom Bookings calendar in the Members' Area of the BPS Website. Bookings can (and must) be made by contacting Mike Bigger at bookings@bristolphoto.org.uk.
