THE RANGER REPORT - February 2023!  The Official Newsletter Of The Mighty Manatees  "Celebrating 37 Years Of Musical Friendships"

OUR CARIBBEAN DEBUT  -  It's true!  This Saturday, Feb. 4, members of The Mighty Manatees, Mike Greer, various friends, family, and musical instruments will board a direct flight from Newark, NJ, to the beautiful island of Saint Maarten in the Dutch West Indies for a week of fun, sun, sand, and song.  Also flying down is occasional Manatees bassist, Eric Visnov and his band Velvet Shelter.  We will be playing at the home of our gracious host Pete Allen (of Pete's Barn fame).  We will also be joined by The Ronnie Santana Band, a local Saint Maarten group.  During our stay, Manatees friend Chris Fly will be live streaming some of the shows on his own Facebook page.  We also hope to write some new songs and record a live album.  We return on Super Bowl Sunday.  Go Eagles!  Special thanks to Scott "Big Daddy" Gourley", and Big Daddy's Limo Service (610-342-6432).
MANATEES FUN FACT:  Did you know that the people of Saint Maarten recently thought they had experienced a small earthquake?  It's true!  But it turned out it was just all our amps, drums, keyboards, and p.a. equipment, in a transport plane touching down at the airport.  Special thanks to Churchie.

BRIDGEPORT CRIBHOUSE  -  Our first show after returning stateside will be on Saturday, February 18th, at the Bridgeport Rib-House from 9:00 to 12:30 AM.  It will be a danceable homecoming.  http://www.ribhouse.net MANATEES FUN FACT:  Did you know that the Bridgeport Rib-House owner and manager Melissa Navitsky will also be attending our musical week on the island?  It's true!

RETURN TO ROOT DOWN  -  Our switch to inside at Root Down Biergarten in Phoenixville, PA, for our bi-weekly Thursday night shows has proven to be an improvement. Not only are the acoustics better, but the parking situation is better as well.  The new showtime of 6:00 to 9:00 PM is also better.  We will be playing there on Thursday, Feb. 23.  Special musical guest Charlie Phillips.  http://www.rootdownbrewing.com

EVERYONE GOES TO FARACOS!  -  It's true!  But it's not because of us, it's because of the food!  We will be singing for our supper there on Saturday, February 25, in Quakertown, PA.  Showtime is 6:00 to 9:00 PM.  Special thanks to Andrea and Chris.

GEORGE HARRISON 80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION  -  Johnny Machete and I will take part in the George Harrison 80th Birthday Celebration on Sunday, February 26, at the Ardmore Music Hall.  It's being hosted by Charlie Phillips and also stars Derek Chafin, Greg Davis, Nik Everett, and Lauren Hart.  Showtime is 7:00.  http://www.ardmoremusichall.com

VIDEO CLIP OF THE MONTH  -  This month we offer another live clip from the fabled Pete's Barn.  This one was shot on New Year's Eve 2002/2003, two years after Pete's Barn was completed.  It features the Rhino Horns, Ray Adkins, and Tim "Yellow Drum" Campbell on drums.  Thanks to Garry Best for shooting the footage, and thanks to Rich Stoler and Brad from Zendog for posting it.   https://youtu.be/rLDB5wFFRKQ

That's all the news for now.
