Matthew 17:20b "For truly I say to you, If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Move from here to there. And it shall move. And nothing shall be impossible to you."

TRUST HIS WORDS

Some time ago I was driving in an unfamiliar city and stopped at a gas station to ask for directions. The young attendant didn't look like he quite knew the answer to my question, but he tried anyway. I noted his words and attempted to follow them to the place I wanted to go. As it turned out, however, when I trusted in his words I was disappointed. They did not get me where I had hoped.

Sometimes when people tell you something, their words cannot be trusted. They can lie or they can simply be mistaken that you will actually be able to accomplish what they say or suggest.

It is not so with Jesus. Everything he tells us is certain and can be trusted. If He says it can be done, it can be done. Even if He were to tell us, "Go over and move that mountain with your bare hands" we could go over and move it if His word told us we could.

Now Jesus may not tell us to put our hand against a mountain and move it, but He does say, "Come to me, you who labor and are heavy laden . . . and you will find rest for your souls" (Mt 11:28-29). Trust these words and live!
