February's Memory Verse
Revelation 3:20,
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me
.”

3 Continual Prayer Requests

The following are 3 things I continually ask God for...
  1. Wisdom:
(Proverbs 4:7), "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and will all thy getting, get understanding." Nothing good can be accomplished in my personal life or in my Christian service without the wisdom of God. I know that I desperately need God's wisdom. (James 1:5), "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." I need God to give me wisdom.
  2. Compassion:
(1 Corinthians 13:2), "...and though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing." Having compassion for my fellow man is Christ-like. Love identifies me as a disciple of Jesus Christ (John 13:35). Having compassion for my fellow man is inseparably linked to the first and greatest command (Matthew 22:36-40). I need God to give me compassion.
  3. Courage:
(Joshua 1:6-9), "Be strong and of good courage... Only be thou strong and very courageous... Be strong and of good courage..." The spirit of fear is not of God (2 Timothy 1:7) and the fear of man is a snare (Proverbs 29:25). The early church believers cried out to God for "boldness" in their witness (Acts 4:29). I need God to give me courage.
Our mission trip to help Brother & Mrs. Wes Bartley in St. Lucia was a tremendous success. Our team of six helped do a good bit of canvassing, paint and do repairs around the church building and conducted a "Christian Life" conference. God blessed wonderfully and we arrived home safe and sound with our hearts stirred anew for world missions. I am very grateful for our good men who filled the pulpit for me while I was out of the country.

Next week, February 13 & 14, Dr. and Mrs. Lonnie Mattingly will be with us for our Family Conference and Couples Banquet. The banquet is Saturday evening and the conference is all day Sunday. Mrs. Mattingly will be speaking to the ladies throughout the day Sunday and Dr. Mattingly will be speaking to the men and preaching the services. Join us and pray for God's blessings. For more information about the family conference, please contact the church.

In just two weeks I'll be heading to New Zealand to preach a series of meetings in Wellington, Auckland, and Whakatane. Brother Lewis Howell is organizing these meetings and I am looking forward to renewing fellowship with many of our good Brothers and Sisters in the Lord down there. Please pray for God's blessings on this endeavor.

Our Wild Game Dinner is March 5 at 5:00 p.m. Howard and Jason Caldwell will be bringing their "Raptures Up Close" presentation once again. Plan now to attend and bring your favorite wild game dish and a friend.

This Sunday morning I'll be preaching from Exodus 12 a message entitled, "The Passover Lamb" and then in the evening from James 5 on "Christian Charity."

Follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with what is happening around here and, please check out our website at www.mlibc.org.

Bring your Bible and a friend and I'll be looking for you Sunday!

Sincerely, your friend,
