International guest speaker: Adri Nieuwhof, former Dutch anti-apartheid activist
This month the African National Congress celebrates its longest-serving president, Oliver Reginald Tambo. Tambo was central in building the successful international isolation of Apartheid South Africa, a strategy that the Palestine solidarity movement is now applying to Israel via the
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. In support of the BDS campaign, last month, the University of the Witwatersrand Student Representative Council
adopted a full academic and cultural boycott of Israel.
International guest speaker: Adri Neiwhof, from the Netherlands, was prominent in the international anti-apartheid movement during the 1980s. In 2006 Niewhof was presented with the South African Government Award for her "exceptional contribution" during the struggle against Apartheid. Adri Nieuwhof is now involved in the international Palestine solidarity movement, including advancing the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel campaign. She is in South Africa for the ANC's International Solidarity Conference which starts on Thursday the 25th of October 2012. Here is a collection of articles written by Adri Nieuwhof:
