Revelation 21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

HOLD TO GOD'S FAITHFUL SAYINGS

The truth can be hard to find in a world filled with wickedness and sin. Therefore, when you find it, treasure it and hang on to it as if your very life depended on it, because it does! Every word of God is true (Proverbs 30:5). All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16). What an amazing gift God has given us!

But He does even more. He takes time in that Word to highlight important things for us to remember. The "faithful sayings" of Paul are one example of many. God isn't saying that these words are more important or necessary to believe than the rest. Instead, He is reminding us of the great certainty we have in everything He has done for us. The truth is the most valuable commodity in the world and God wants you to know where it is found.

The quest for that truth should be your most ardent activity throughout all the days of your life. It was so important to Jesus that it was a central theme of His ministry here on earth. It was so important to Paul that he spent time instructing Timothy and Titus about it, even in his final words. It was so important to Martin Luther that he wrote with a solid conviction of belief. Our verse today shows us that the truth is so valuable that God concluded His revelation to John (and His divine Word) with a command to "write" that truth so others would have it.

The Gospel reminds us that we have a God who makes "all things new." In a world where the same old fiction is spread in different ways, something new is indeed refreshing. You are forgiven in Christ! You have the promise of new life! Amen, Amen! This is most certainly true! This is a faithful saying!
