Psalm 33:1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.
REASON TO REJOICE
Sometimes a person just does not feel like rejoicing. The hot, humid, dry weather descends like an oppressive weight and your spirits wither with it. One may feel grumpy, lethargic, and just plain surly because of the many things which happen in life. It usually happens the first unsuspecting person to come along is the object of one's own sour mood. Still, no matter what you may feel like there is reason to rejoice.
The psalmist points to the object and the subject for rejoicing: the LORD. He, Jesus, has redeemed you hasn't He? He died for the sins of the world, and you are part of that world He died for. Rejoice!
Your sins are forgiven. The LORD has brought you by faith into His kingdom. Rejoice!
You are a child of God and an heir of eternal life.
The LORD as your King rules with all grace and mercy.
He provides you with all your daily needs.
He gives His angels to watch over you wherever you go.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!
The pains and sorrows, the worries and anxieties of this life are only for a moment and what awaits you is the eternal weight of glory in the LORD.
