Dear Friends,
I am so grateful Deborah and I were able to be with our Dance friends in Mexico, and we are very much looking forward to being back at Spring Ozark Camp! I hope you will join us on The Farm for this upcoming retreat. I would love to show you around.

The last several months have been stressful and challenging for so many of us. We are so fortunate to have this practice as a way to ground our being, a way to remember that kindness and compassion are the foundation of everything. Now more than ever, we rely on our spiritual community, on each other, and shine our light into the world.

Weaving a Vision together!
Dancing under the dome!

If Dances of Universal Peace are to continue in North America beyond the founding generation, I believe we can agree that it is vitally important to affirm and nurture the spiritual and personal development of our Next-Generation Dancers and Leaders.

One of the most effective ways we can accomplish this is to provide opportunities for leadership, connection, and collaboration, empowering the sustainability and resilience of our tradition. This effort takes every one of us!

Come weave a vision with the Next Gen Council at this unique opportunity to build the future!

Meet two members of the Next Gen Council

Nur Jehan and Ashley Pelli have been serving as co-chairs on the Next Generation Council for a little over a year now. As co-chairs, they attend meetings of the Next Generation Council and meet periodically with the DUPNA board to present ideas that require approval. Together, they are learning to harmonize their efforts, ensuring that the ears of their hearts are attuned to the Next Generation of our beloved tradition. By listening deeply, they hope to uncover what is needed to support this powerful work.

Nur Jehan lives in Duluth, Minnesota, and has been a mureed of Leilah Be for 19 years, finding her in her early 20s. She became a certified dance leader along the way and has been leading a dance circle in Duluth for over a decade. Passionate about serving in the realm of the heart, she is a mother to two children, manages a full-time bodywork practice, and helps run a wellness center that regularly incorporates the dances into their community offerings. She brings extensive experience in leading and organizing gatherings to help enrich the council's work.

Ashley Pelli, residing in Richmond, VA, has been a dancer since 2012 and a mentee of dance leader Hayat Bain for three years. She co-leads a monthly dance circle and has cherished the DUP as a family practice with her daughters. She brings her experience in servant-leadership and a commitment to community-based liberation through the interfaith movement, anti-racism, and intergenerational collaboration to the council. Eager to become a certified dance leader, she is excited to explore how the DUP, alongside yoga and NVC, benefits families, children, and trauma-affected populations.

The Next Gen Council is thrilled to invite you to the Farm for this retreat that calls for all hearts on deck! They also welcome all interested youth aged 20-50 to consider joining the council. It promises to be a life-affirming and transformative experience!
