Canoe/Kayak Day Trip
River Wey – Weybridge area

This is a ‘there and back’ trip, starting by the Byfleet Boat Club 4 Old Parvis Road ,Byfleet, West Byfleet, KT14 6LE. If using the what3words app, go to ozone.mercy.tries.
We will initially go up-stream on the canal.
Variables such the group abilities and the weather will dictate where we will stop to eat our own picnic lunches, usually at a lock, possibly for a quick drink in a pub outside garden at tha Anchor before returning to our launch point.
Dependent on the make-up of the group, there is likely to be some informal coaching available on request.
The finish time of 15.00 is suggested. A licence is required but BC members and club craft are already licenced, and the club has spare licences for others.
We will welcome all canoeists and kayakers in Scouting but any large group of Scouts should have a responsible adult to accompany them.
If you are unable to supply your own craft and equipment you may book them from the SSWAC Canoe Centre through John Farmer. There are twenty-five solo kayaks, one tandem kayak, a sit-on-top, five open canoes, one giant SUP and five solo SUPs for hire at £12 per person for the day. However, you will need to collect most from the club’s Godalming Centre at 09.00, by arrangement. The SUPs will be delivered to the river.
All the usual clothing and equipment suitable for prevailing weather conditions will be required, plus a packed lunch in a water-proof container. In addition please wear something festive
Scout authorised Coaches will be supervising the trip.
