Dear dancers!
At our project intro weekend in September the women once again chose a really interesting repertoire for this season's ANAR DANA training project. We still have room for more dancers so please consider working with me and telling your friends and students about this opportunity. If you would love to join us but feel you can't afford it, please contact me to ask about work study opportunities. I would like to make this opportunity accessible to everybody!
Our repertoire for the coming year is:
* Tunisian Shaabi
* Egyptian Saidi
* Macedonian Rom Čoček
* Ottoman Court dances
* Dance from Daghestan
* Dances of the Qashaqa'i Nomads of Iran
* Afghani dance from Paktia
There are still places available for the group...so if you couldn't make it to the intro weekend but would like to join the project, please don't hesitate to contact me!
This year our new home is in the cozy Tin Can Studio in the Tully's building.
You can see the Seattle Channel's documentary about the project group from three years ago

The project itself is a series of 9 intensive weekends of 12 hours each. The repertoire of 7 dances was decided upon in the introductory weekend. To participate after the October weekend one must decide to commit to the whole project by contract.
We will learn the techniques of each of the dance styles decided upon, do dance technique training and yoga, learn about the cultural and historical backgrounds for the different dance styles, learn about choreography, staging, stage make-up and costumes. We learn 7 different group choreographies...each student will be in 4 choreographies, but is expected to be able to stand in for the other 3 if necessary.
There is a certificate of participation for all who complete the program. If you would like to chat about anything you are welcome to call!
