Isaiah 53:1 Who has believed what we told them? And to whom has the Lord’s mighty working been revealed?
The New Song: Who Sings?
It is truly noteworthy that Scripture must so often urge us to sing. That in itself is clear proof  as to our laziness and lukewarmness in spiritual matters.

In earthly matters it is entirely different. When children have a vacation from school, then there is exulting and rejoicing. In the modern sports arenas, when the outrageous search for pleasure by our crazy and misguided generation is indulged in, and an “important” game is won, then one jubilant cry after another sounds forth from the boisterous, waving mass of people.

However, in spiritual matters one can scarcely bring forth a hymn of praise. Concerning this, a theologian said some time ago: “Remarkable times: the songs which are sung to glorify men are known and familiar to most of the people. But the songs which should be sung to the Lord Almighty are sung with a closed mouth.”

This difference should make us deeply ashamed. Christ has overwhelmed us with blessings. How can singing possibly remain absent?

Lord of hosts, let our voices be united with those of the angels, that we may worship Thee with our speaking and singing. Amen.
