Helen - Please update us on Jake.
Wade - I was emailing a friend this morning and realizing how evident God has been in this thing from the beginning. The diagnosis they originally gave us was that he was virtually a dead man. It was just a matter of time. There was nothing we could do about it. Just a few days ago, last week, he took his first steps. Yesterday I got word that he stood up without a walker. So he’s learning how to walk again and it’s a really big deal. I’ve seen pictures of him and his muscles are really atrophied. He was in a coma for so long. He is really doing well and it is possible that he can make a complete recovery. And it’s truly a miracle and I thank everybody for their prayers. It is just evident that God healed him. It is amazing. I am so thankful!
Tell us about the benefit for Jake
This Saturday, August 26th, my friend Megan has agreed to do it with me. We’re flying down and doing an acoustic set there at the VFW, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, there in Shawnee, Oklahoma at 7 o’clock. And, of course, you know my sister had to go to South Korea to get Jacob. She thought she’d be bringing his body back. She has not been to work. She has been by his side since early on. She’s amazing. She’s a pretty tough lady. I’m really proud of her. Obviously there has been quite a cost from all this ordeal, so we are just trying to help the family out. Again thank you all for your well wishes and your support. I really appreciate it.
(Note: Jake Hayes, Wade’s nephew, while serving in the navy, fell into a coma for 6 weeks. He has battled very serious bouts with pneumonia as well as a life-threatening form of encephalitis, an infection of the brain. After time in a South Korean hospital, he was transferred to a facility in San Diego, where he is under going intensive therapy to regain the use of his body.)
(Another note: Wade volunteered that the scar on his left ear lobe was from a spider bite. He’s not sure where on his farm he encountered it. Possibly the spider was inside his bike helmet. He said it’s taken quite a while to heal and caused a delay in making a video)
What’s been keeping you busy lately?
(He chuckles.) I am all the time doing something. We were just talking about tic and spider bites and me messing around with pasture. I’m just trying to get ready for some new cows that I’m getting. I’m working on the old house, and trying to come up with new songs. For some reason, my songwriter is turned off right now. I’ll get a little nibble of an idea that starts to creep into my feeble mind and then it’s gone. So I don’t know what’s going on with that, it comes and goes. It’s weird, songwriting, to me and I’ve always been that way. There are periods where things just start coming and they keep coming and other times I’m dry as a bone like I am right now. I need to find whatever - I read as many books as I possibly can. My friends, like Tiernie Church, keep me supplied with a pretty good stock of books. And that used to help. I’m trying to write songs and thinking about the next project and what we’re going to do. We’re still trying to figure out how to “unproperly” launch this one. We’re working on some radio stuff and I’m thinking about doing an acoustic set at my house and streaming it. So just a lot of things in the works, but everything is good. I’m doing really well, health wise and just very, very thankful.
We appreciate you and we’re very thankful.
I appreciate you, Helen, and all the folks out there. Thank you so much.

About those Wade imposters
Wade fans - Heads up - Recognize those who are imitating Wade on Facebook. Wade doesn’t reach out personally to anyone from his official facebook page. He doesn’t ask for money for any reason. It seems when one pretender is taken down and another pops up. Their copycat sites look real. Beware. Notify facebook and Wade’s management team if someone is trying to scam you.
