RE-ELECT ED GAINEY FOR MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, PA!

RE-ELECT MAYOR ED GAINEY

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh by a single teenage mom and her mother, growing up in the Hill District, South Oakland, and later public housing in East Liberty. In 2012, I was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 24th legislative district. I spent my time in Harrisburg fighting for the increase of Pennsylvania’s minimum wage, transportation projects, and funding for mass transit, criminal justice reforms, medical marijuana legalization, and quality education.

In 2016, I lost my sister to gun violence, an experience that shaped my worldview in a profound way. When I was elected Mayor, I brought these experiences around housing, gun violence, and my nearly decade-long service as a legislator to my new role in order to work towards delivering the city I knew we could become. As Mayor, I’ve focused on the vision of making Pittsburgh the safest, most welcoming, and most thriving city in America. We’ve made tremendous progress: delivering affordable housing, reducing homicides and gun violence, and securing a huge $600 million investment in Downtown. I look forward to a second term so we can finish the work we started these last three years.
