Enter the wizarding world of BookShop West Portal as we celebrate the publication of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! Festivities begin at 2 p.m., and culminate with the book release at midnight.
Experience our magical transformation into Flourish and Blotts Bookstore! The adjacent courtyard will morph into Diagon Alley, the main shopping thoroughfare of the wizarding world. The celebration extends to a large section of the West Portal shopping district, along with the West Portal branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
Among the family-friendly activities will be crafts, a children's costume contest, and the opportunity to meet a live owl (and his keeper) who will be visiting from San Francisco's Randall Museum. Prizes will be awarded throughout the day for the best and brightest of wizards and witches. Wizarding displays, activities, and photo opportunities will be offered throughout the West Portal neighborhood; visitors will be given a (Marauder's) map to all participating restaurants and merchants.
The evening entertainment begins at 8 pm with a live staged reading by San Francisco's renowned Word for Word Performing Arts Company.
Additionally, we have teamed up with the San Francisco chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance (I Left My Wand in San Francisco) for adult trivia and costume contests.
The grand finale, of course, will be the delivery of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the stroke of midnight!
