"Bag Making is FUN"
with StudioKat Designs
Issue #223 May 31, 2022 |
Hello & Welcome
A lot has happened here since last we "talked". There's been some family issues, most notably that BOTH of my 89 year-old parents contracted COVID-19. Fortunately they handled it well but were quarantined in a group facility, so we've been very busy caregivers. As a matter of fact, I barely finished this Newsletter in time to get it in the queue for this morning!
Ironically though, our houseguest has proved to be a sweet & welcomed diversion for me. (Click HERE to see who our house guest is.) As a matter of fact, I could use a mental health break w/our house guest right now, so go head and get started. We have fun stuff in store for you today including two new products, an extreme close-out sale on some popular products & a sneek peek at what will soon become our next new pattern design!

"Eye Candy" for June 2022
It’s
time for your monthly treat for the eyes & I really LOVE this
month's selection of bags.
ALL of the bags pictured below have been shared recently on
(For LARGER images: Click on each individual pic)
This magical Sling Along was created by Peggy Schaff whose construction skills are impeccable & on full display here! And I love that she embroidered her initals at the top Tab
Carol Fisher said she's made several Quattro's over the past few years and always loves the end result. and if that's the case, she must be VERY pleased with this bag because everything about it is pleasing! The fabric combo and the make are "spot on"!
Here's another Sling Along by Toni Fox-Cole! It seems that every bag she makes just gets more & more beautiful & this one is no exception. Toni made this Sling Along for her "sister from another mother" who will soon be taking it on an upcoming cruise!
And if ever there was a perfect "Springtime" bag this Bella BiFold by Jan Strickler would have to be it! The fabrications are all so reminiscent of the colors we see outside right now! How fun it would be to carry it! :)
This amazing Gemini FlightBag was created by one of our favorite "sewing dudes", Don Distler, who said that he embroidered both the front and back of this bag with a mylar design from Purelygates.com and I have to say I'm SO impressed with Don's usage of plastic zippers which I have always struggled with!
I first spied Elaine Comer's paisley Everyday Attache on Instagram and was instantly attracted to it! She has since joined us in our FaceBook Sewing Group and we look forward to seeing many more fun creations from Elaine!
And here we have one more example of how wonderful Tula Pink's fabric looks on our bags! Jenn Kirby created this Sling Along for a friend who fell in love with it on sight! (And who could blame her!)
Deb Piereman said that this ErgoMatic is her very first StudioKat Designs bag but she added that it certainly will not be her last. She loves this bag and we can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
Maureen Obuch said she made her granddaughter an Everyday Attache 2 years ago and she recently found out that she's STILL carrying it 2 years later and says that its a "perfect bag"! So how could she help but make her another, which promptly turned into TWO! It's fun being a gramma isn't it?!
I met Judy Huckleberry at the AQS Paducah show where she showed me the Walkabout Wallet she was carrying! I was so impressed with it that she later sent me this picture of the two Wrapsody's she created for herself & a friend.

I've become much more interested in bunnies since my granddaughter's bunny guy has come to stay with us a few times. No, I won't be acquiring one, but I do enjoy them so here's a fun video you may enjoy.

It’s a tough job, but some kitten had to do it. An animal rescue group in Kansas City, Missouri, pronounced a 6-week-old black cat the “most responsible kitten in the world” after he was found watching over three younger kittens whose mother was nowhere to be found.

Some of the samples our customer seem to love best at Quilt Shows were created with fabric by Paula Nadelstern, one of my favorite fabric designers and guess what?? She just released a new kaleidoscope panel design called Heartscapes and I'm crazy about it!
And while the focal prints are too large to incorporate into my new bag design, this panel would look simply amazing adorning several of our other current designs, like the Sling Along, the Flaptastic and the OutBreaker!
We're carrying this new panel in the "Red/Multi" version and for a much closer look and to get all the details, just go HERE.

SMONDAY- that moment when Sunday stops feeling like a Sunday and the anxiety of a Monday starts kicking in!
Ask a visible mender to explain why they love to repair clothes using patches or colourful darning and the response will usually include storytelling. Most menders pride themselves on adding to the history of a garment: a cleverly patched hole is evidence of something saved from landfill.
They’ll also insist it shouldn’t be perfect. The charm of the visible mend lies in the character of its flaws, so the important thing is to have a go. Here is some advice from expert visible menders on how to get started. {Click HERE to read more}
